Election of Members of the Medical Council of Mauritius
NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT OF PROXIES |
- Notice is hereby given that, in view of the election of members of the MEDICAL COUNCIL OF MAURITIUS, due to be held on Saturday 12 April 2025, any fully registered medical practitioner who will be serving in Rodrigues, Agalega or at Mauritian Embassies or High Commissions abroad on that day may, if he so wishes, vote by proxy.
- In order to vote by proxy, any such medical practitioner must apply forthwith during normal office hours to the Returning Officer, Office of the Electoral Commissioner, MaxCity Building, Corner Remy Ollier and Louis Pasteur Streets, Port Louis, or the Health Director, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Creve Coeur, Rodrigues for an application form to vote by proxy.
- The said application form, duly filled in by the medical practitioner, must then be forwarded to the person appointed as proxy, who will countersign it before sending it to the Returning Officer, Office of the Electoral Commissioner at the abovementioned address so as to reach the latter by 04 April, 2025 at 4 p.m. Application forms received after that date will not be considered.
- A proxy paper authorizing the proxy to vote on behalf of the applicant will be sent to the proxy on or before 08 April 2025.
- It is brought to the attention of all concerned that:
- An elector shall not be entitled to have more than one proxy at a time appointed to vote for him;
- An elector who has appointed a proxy shall not be entitled to vote in person;
- A person shall not be capable of being appointed to vote as proxy at this election unless he is a Commonwealth citizen over eighteen years of age and not subject to any legal incapacity to vote thereat as an elector;
- A person shall not be entitled to vote as proxy at the same election on behalf of more than two electors.
